Giorgia Berrino is currently a research fellow at the Law Department of the University of Ferrara.

She graduated cum laude from the Law Department of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia with a thesis on international criminal law entitled “International Criminal Court: the principle of complementarity” (supervisors: Prof. Marco Gestri and Prof. Luigi Foffani) and she got a PhD in international law from the same University with a thesis entitled: “The Immunity of States from Civil Jurisdiction of a Foreign State: Looking for a Balance between State Sovereignty and the Protection of Fundamental Human Rights” (supervisors: Prof. Marco Gestri and Prof. Luigi Foffani).

As part of her PhD course, she spent research periods abroad, in particular at Columbia University in New York, Humboldt University in Berlin and the University of Technology in Sydney.

She is registered with the Bologna Bar Association and practices law at the “Tebano Corvucci” law firm.

She is a contract professor at the Law Department of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia as well as Project Manager of the European project CERV 2021 “FASTLISA” (Fighting hAte Speech Through a Legal, ICT and Sociolinguistic approach) at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.
