Vito is a Legal Advisor at Amnesty International (International Secretariat), where he advises on international humanitarian law, international criminal law and international human rights law. Between 2018 and 2022, he was a Legal Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa Programme of the International Commission of Jurists based in Tunis, Tunisia, with a special focus on Libya and Palestine/Israel.
Vito holds a PhD in international law from Aarhus University, Denmark, a Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratization from the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice, Italy, and a Law Degree from the University of Ferrara, Italy. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Trento, a Visiting Researcher at the Swedish Defence University in Stockholm, and a Visiting Fellow at the Amsterdam Center for International Law.
Vito has also taught courses and classes in a number of universities, including on international human rights strategic litigation and advocacy at American University Washington College of Law and on international humanitarian law at the University of Trento and Aarhus University.
