Adán Nieto Martin
Adán Nieto Martin is Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, where he is Director of the Institute of European and International Criminal Law.
Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, he has undertaken research stays at the Universities of Freiburg, Tübingen and Cambridge and has been a visiting professor at the Faculty of Law in Modena.
He is the President of the Spanish Section of the International Association of Penal Law and a member of its International Scientific Committee.
He's a founding member of the European Criminal Policy Initiative and directs the Master’s programme in Regulatory Compliance at the University of Castilla la Mancha.
His main areas of research have been economic criminal law and the development of criminal law in the European Union. Recently, he has worked on aspects of regulatory compliance, the prevention of corruption in public administrations and legislative evaluation. His latest research project concerns the criminal liability of multinational companies for human rights violations. He has completed five six-year research periods.
He has coordinated several collective works, such as: “Manual de cumplimiento penal en la empresa” (2015), “Public compliance. Prevención de la corrupción en las administraciones públicas (2015), “Hacia una evaluación racional de las leyes penales” (2017), Food Regulation and Criminal Law (2018), “Ius Puniendi y Global Law. Hacia un derecho penal sin estado” (2020).
He is also co-author of two handbooks, namely “Derecho penal económico y de la empresa”, Dykinson, 2024 (segunda edición), and “Fundamentos de Derecho penal. Parte Especial.” Tectos, 2023 (segunda edición).
