Dr Triestino Mariniello (LL.M., Ph.D.) is a Reader in Law (Associate Professor) at Liverpool
John Moores University (UK).
At present, he is working as an Alexander von Humboldt Senior Research Fellow at the Humboldt University of Berlin, where is leading a research project on the admissibility of cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
His research interests focus on international criminal law, international humanitarian law and
international human rights law. Triestino Mariniello’s academic writing has also appeared in a variety of leading journals in international (criminal) law.
Triestino Mariniello is a member of the legal team representing Gaza victims before the ICC. He has
served as a Visiting Professional and Associate Legal Officer at the Pre-Trial Division of the
International Criminal Court (ICC), working on Situations in Sudan, Democratic Republic of
Congo and Republic of Kenya.
He has been consulted as an expert in international criminal justice and human rights by governmental and non-governmental organizations, such as the European Commission (TAIEX), the European Court of Human Rights, Italian Parliament, UK House of Commons, Tunisian Ministry of Justice, Montenegrin Ministry of Justice, Italian Ministry of Defence, Italian Ministry of Justice, International Observatory of Human Rights, Italian Training School for Judges and Prosecutors, International Bar Association, International Federation of Human Rights, No Peace Without Justice, Women’s Initiative for Gender Justice, Redress.
