Chiara Gentile is a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law.
She obtained her PhD in European Union Law and National Legal Systems from the University of Ferrara (2024) and won a research grant at LUISS Guido Carli in Constitutional Law on the topic of climate litigation (2023). She has conducted research abroad at Columbia Law School (2024) and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (2022, 2023, 2025).
She has been awarded scholarships and financial grants from the Ermenegildo Zegna Foundation (2022), the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (2023), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (2024).
She was awarded a mention at the 12th Prize (2024) for the best doctoral thesis in public law subjects in the “Sovereignty, Federalism, Rights” series of studies, sponsored by the Pisa Group. She is the author of the monograph “L'extraterritorialità dei diritti fondamentali” (The Extraterritoriality of Fundamental Rights) (Editoriale scientifica, 2025) and of scientific contributions on topics including the protection of fundamental rights, climate litigation, worker participation in companies, and the constitutional tone in the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court.
She has participated as a speaker or discussant in seminars and conferences in Italy and abroad.
