Daley Birkett (LL.B., LL.M., Ph.D.) is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie Law School (Sydney, Australia). He has also served as a Visiting Lecturer in the Law of International Organizations in the Department of Law at the University of Verona.
His research interests lie in public international law, international criminal law and the jus ad bellum. He is presently working on a project concerning the freezing and seizure of assets in the context of the Situation in Ukraine at the International Criminal Court.
A prize-winning researcher, he has published his scholarship in leading journals and has (co-)edited and/or contributed to books published by Cambridge University Press, Routledge and Brill Nijhoff.
He has twice acted as (Senior) Legal Consultant to International Judges of the Supreme Court Chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC).
In December 2024 he was nominated as co-winner of the year 2020 by the Committee of the Journal of International Criminal Justice Prize for his article entitled "Managing Frozen Assets at the International Criminal Court: The Fallout of the Bemba Acquittal".
