Nausicaa Turco has been enrolled since March 2025 in the XL cycle of the PhD in European Union and National Law at the University of Ferrara (curriculum ‘Sources, institutions, protection of fundamental rights in the European Union and the European penal system’) with a research project entitled "Torture in prison between norms and practices: what protection for victims?" (tutors: Costanza Bernasconi and Francesco Morelli).

She is an assistant lecturer (“cultrice della materia”) in criminal law (IUS/17) at the University of Ferrara.

She trained as a lawyer at the law firm of Prof. Avv. Alessandro Gamberini and has been a criminal lawyer at the Bologna Bar since March 2017.

She graduated with full marks and honours from the University of Bologna in 2013 with a thesis in Muslim Law and Islamic Countries Law on the 2012 Tunisian constitutional transition. For the thesis, she attended the University of Tunis and, during her university years, spent ten months at the University of Lisbon as part of the Erasmus exchange program.

From 2007 to 2013, she was a student at the Collegio Superiore of the University of Bologna, with an exchange at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.

Since 2018 she has been a member of the Antigone Association and, since 2022, of the Antigone Observatory for the monitoring of prison conditions in Emilia-Romagna.

She is fluent in English, French and Portuguese.
